Accellerase® TRIO™

Accellerase® TRIO™ enzyme mixture unlocks 70 to 90 percent of sugars from biomass and enables commercial-scale production of cellulosic sugar and ethanol. When paired with an effective pre-treatment, Accellerase® TRIO delivers complete liquefaction in 24 hours—at economically viable dosing.

This breakthrough, all-in-one product combines cellulases, hemicellulases and beta-glucosidases to unlock both xylan and glucan. Specifically engineered enzyme activities reduce product inhibition and allow performance across broad operating conditions, including simultaneous saccharification and fermentation.

Accellerase® TRIO works with a range of pretreatment chemistry including dilute ammonia, dilute acid, ammonia fiber expansion and steam expansion. As part of a complete cellulosic ethanol process, Accellerase® TRIO boosts yields by lowering viscosity of the substrate and enabling high-solids loading.  

In lab, pilot and demo-scale tests, Accellerase® TRIO performs hydrolysis with half the dose that earlier enzyme formulations require. Exact dosing of Accellerase® TRIO will depend on the specific pretreatment configuration and biomass characteristics.
